Olympic Ski and Snowboard Winter Conditioning
Skiing and Snowboarding are both very physically demanding sports, as well as sports that have a high risk for injury. By taking part in our Olympic Ski and Snowboard Winter Conditioning program, we will not only put you through the best exercises to increase your performance, but will also teach you about your body and how to prevent injury on the mountain through tested and proven Olympic style exercises. You will enter and end your season with a durable, sustainable body that can withstand the conditions of the mountains.
Throughout the ski and snowboard season your muscular and neuromuscular systems will be put to the test. This program will build a body that can withstand a season without non-contact injury. It is a necessity to learn to increase stability and mobility throughout your muscular system and joints before getting on the mountain for another physically taxing season. Learn to connect to and use your body in the most efficient way possible. Olympic Ski and Snowboard athletes use this same program to improve their strength and performance on the mountain, so why shouldn’t you?
“Alpine Skiing places intense force demands on the whole body, more so than in most other sports,” states John Cole, Director of Human Performance at Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. “There are a large number of incredible variables in skiing and snowboarding the requires us to train our Olympic athletes year-round to prepare for these same force demands. Pre-conditioning the muscle groups to absorb these demands will increase your overall ability, push back your fatigue, but most importantly, reduce the risk of injury.”
