There is a myriad of health benefits to eating mindfully and intuitively. With Fitbit and Myfitnesspal calculators, we tend to spend our days “logging in” and “geeking out” when it comes to nutrition and fitness. My response to this continuous tracking may shock some – put down the technology and listen to what your body is craving. Our current culture is overfed and undernourished in mind, body, and spirit. When we listen, we can hear our body’s innate wisdom asking for the proper nutrients to support us in our active endeavors.Eating Intentionally Vail Athletic Club

Focus on bringing the family together in the shopping and cooking process. Creating a meal together increases not only the nutrient density but also builds a sense of community that helps us feel truly nourished. Research shows that children who eat with their families 5-7 times a week do better in school, have better communication skills and have a lower risk of engaging in high-risk behaviors as teenagers.

So let us show gratitude for our meals, put down our fork between bites, laugh together, savor every morsel, and forget about the numbers to feel fully fed!
